About John

Hello, I’m John Melonakos. I started this blog to engage in dialog on some interesting topics. Please join the conversation by making comments on the various posts.

Outside this blog, I am CEO & Co-Founder of AccelerEyes. We make software to help scientists, engineers, and financial analysts be more productive. More specifically, we sell Jacket – the best set of GPU software in the world!

I went to a lot of school, ending up with a BSEE from Brigham Young University and MS & PhD ECE degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology. I’m an alumni of Georgia Tech’s TI:GER program and Sam Nunn Security program. I led the winning team in the 2008 Georgia Tech and Georgia Bowl Business Plan Competitions and in Georgia’s 2009 GRA/TAG Business Launch Competition.

During school, I worked at various large companies in summer stints, including General Electric, Hewlett-Packard, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, and Corning Cable Systems. I was also an early employee of startup Torion Technologies.

From 1999 to 2001, I was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Since then, I’ve served in various teaching capacities and as the youth group leader working with teenage boys. I currently serve as Primary Pianist.

I live in Austell, GA with my wife and 4 children.

John, I found out about you by reading the wiki on AccelerEyes. I’m currently a master’s student studying Computational Science at The Richard Stockton College of NJ, and find your product Jacket quite fascinating. Good luck in the future and congratulations on very successful professional and academic careers.
